Believed to be a cross between up to 17 different breeds of dog, the Russian Black Terrier is a dog that is as large as it is iconic. They were bred in the USSR back in the 1940s and 1950s, and that selective breeding as led to a dog that averages anywhere between 28 to 30 inches in height, and weighs in at 130 pounds on average.
Despite their size, these dogs are calm, affectionate and intelligent. They’re the type of dog that you’ll love having around, as they’re often independent and take very well to training. Their size will also easily deter anyone who wants to mess with their or family.
