19. Treating Dog Issues With Human Medication

To reiterate a point, dogs are not humans. It’s easy to fall into the trap of treating your dog like a person, but they are a completely different species despite many superficial similarities. To begin with, human medicine simply isn’t designed to work on dogs. At best it’s probably not going to help.
At worst your medicine might kill your animal. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen can both kill your dogs. You should also know that if your dog has ear problems you shouldn’t use ear medicine made for humans, it might destroy the delicate machinery of your dog’s ears.
If you care about your dog don’t be cheap, buy medicine that’s actually meant for a dog. If a dog can die eating chocolate then why would you think human medicine would be good for it?
