14. Walking Down Busy Roads Without a Leash

Walks are essential for raising a healthy dog but if they are done improperly they can be dangerous. One thing you always need to consider is that dogs don’t see the world the same way we do. In many ways, dogs are like children who never fully grow up.
They don’t fully comprehend the dangers of the world around them. They may be very astute in some ways, but they can be oblivious to others. Even if they realize speeding vehicles are dangerous, they might be slow to understand that running out into the road is a good way to get hit by a giant metal machine.
Dogs can also get into trouble even if there are no cars on the street. Something might spook your dog and cause it to bite another dog or a human, and that can lead to your dog getting put down. Even if your dog is the nicest in the world, you never know what sort of strange people or dogs it might run into.
