Dogs are probably one of the most diverse-looking species on the planet. Thousands of years of breeding has created a wide range of distinctive breeds with drastically different colors, coats, sizes and shapes.

But what happens when you take some of these distinctive breeds and combine their most notable properties?

You get dogs like these adorable cuties, who combine the best of both of their breeds.

But one things for sure… I don’t really care what they are… I just wanna to hug them all.

    They may be cute, but they’re still mutts, mongrels and half breeds perpetrating the atrocity that is puppy farming/back yard breeding. Just because you give them a stupid combination name doesn’t make it any less so. Responsible breeders work towards bettering the breed, and getting rid of traits that are undesirable eg. Breathing issues, luxating patella. It’s got nothing to do with them being ugly, they’re probably lovely dogs. But look at the big picture.

    “Responsible breeders” are what have made dogs have so many health problems today due to “desired traits” that they have been bred to have. Pugs should NOT be that wrinkly, or have those intense breathing sounds like a lot of them do, or have faces so squished, or have eyes that bulgy, or have tails THAT curly. They have been bred to be like that by “responsible breeders” because those traits make them look more cute and attractive. And I mean.. yes, they are freaking cute like that. But why change a dog’s physical attributes because of what people find cuter? Pugs are a really old breed and are not meant to look this way. (I am not saying anything bad against people’s purebred pugs because pugs are my favourite, but this is reality). Another fine example is the English bulldog. The poor thing can’t even give birth naturally anymore and needs a C-section most of the time. All because of “responsible breeders”. And let’s not even get started on their breathing problems and other health problems, and their life spans. Bulldogs, among other breeds, are basically man made. Why should humans have a say in how an animal develops? As we can see in many fine examples in the world, humans are actually the worst and need to stop screwing with nature.

    Too bad you obviously don’t understand. I’ve had 15+ Pugs in my lifetime and used to work with dogs. Sure some are healthy and some aren’t. Mutts tend to have less problems and purebred more. SOMETIMES. And that isn’t the point. The point is more often than not, in certain breeds, the Pug being one, is that crossbreeding causes genetic defects/mutations. Some are recessive and won’t show until there’s pups. And by then the damage is done and often severe. Pug/Chihuahua mixes tend to suffer most. Perodontal problems, jaw deformities, nasal deformities, brain development or lack thereof, etc.

    Cris Belea you’ll find that purebred pugs from a registered breeder do not have these problems. Not all pugs have breathing problems. I’m not saying the breed hasn’t changed, or that it’s right, but all those weird cross-eyed pugs with tiny little nostrils are generally not coming from a responsible breeder. They are the result of people just breeding willy nilly with their 2 “pure breed” pugs. Regardless, this is not my issue. My issue is people, not breeders, getting two dogs they think might look cute together (and some do) and breeding them in their backyard to cash in on the flat face craze going on right now. I will never think that this is acceptable, when so many dogs need rescuing. And the gullible people saying its a breed, they all look the same, he’s cute, you disgust me. Go have a look inside a puppy farm one day. That’s what your love of these cross breeds is fueling. Your even making it easy for them, they only need one pug now.
