Dogs are probably one of the most diverse-looking species on the planet. Thousands of years of breeding has created a wide range of distinctive breeds with drastically different colors, coats, sizes and shapes.

But what happens when you take some of these distinctive breeds and combine their most notable properties? You get dogs like these adorable cuties, who combine the best of both of their breeds.

    They are so cute!! I had one I rescued from being put to sleep because the breeder couldn’t sell her (she was the runt with a few health issues). I had her 2 years before she got sick and passed. I loved that dog so much. Its a beautiful breed!!!

    I fully agree. I’m a mom of 2 rescue Dachshunds. One is a dapple that was taken away from a breeder. Cross breeding them is discouraged in SA as their DNA is weakened. The more you cross breed daxies the worse it becomes. Some are born deaf or blind and others with heart conditions. All just because people want show off their diffirent breed dog.

    Actually it’s purebreeds that have more health problems. Take pugs for example, bred to have short snouts and have terrible breathing problems. Cross a pure pug with a dachshund and that problem may not be apparent in the pups, hence a healthier life.

    OMG Adam what would that pup look like….As a dachshund mommy of over 40 years the pure breeds come with health issues…..just ask my vet…have paid for many of their vacations….but once a doxie mommy always a doxie mommy….I have two girls now, a red dapple & a blk dapple…

    This is a daug, dachshund/pug mix. She doesn’t have the breathing problems and short nose like a pug. Plus her legs are longer with her longer back so she doesn’t have the back problems dachshunds have either.

    Not starting an argument, just making a comment that calling simple mutts (which have been my babies too!) by some fancy names doesn’t make them any thing more than mutts. I love them all, just being honest.

    I get that, but in a lot of cases It’s not really fancy names like you are starting a new breed, it’s just shortening it so you don’t need to spend 5 minutes explaining what the dog is. A nickname, Like calling a Yorkshire terrier a yorkie.

    I will stick with my full breed doxies. They already have environmental allergies that are aweful I would hate to have a dog suffer with anything else. All dogs are beautiful souls that’s for sure
