What possesses anyone to mistreat an animal, we’ve yet to understand. But one thing is for sure — An animal like Sally isn’t one to give up. This is her story.

Sally was discarded like trash in a sealed box, then thrown into a dumpster. She was severely malnourished and covered in mange. She likely had just enough energy to wag her tail, knowing this would be the only way to get someone’s attention.

Thankfully, it worked! A passerby heard the thumping and dug her out. We have blurred the photos a bit so they’re a little less upsetting — but on a positive note, her future transformation is one to celebrate!
The man who found her contacted Dallas Dog RRR. He knew if anyone could help the poor pup, it would be them! They arrived on the scene and knew she needed to be taken to the emergency clinic straight away. The vet diagnosed her with severe dehydration, mange, a high fever, and inflammation everywhere. Sally’s paws were even painfully swollen that it was difficult for her to stand.

Who could allow her to get to this state and then throw her away? A monster! Just like inside the box, and despite her critical state, Sally continued to wag her tail. That was her way of saying “This will NOT defeat me.” And she was right!

Patti, a foster mom that works with Dallas Dog RRR, volunteered to foster Sally. She knew it would be challenging and it would be a long road, but she knew she was the right person for the job. Sally was finally with a loving person who would NEVER give up on her. Sally knew from the start that Patti was the one for her and thanked her with a sweet kiss.

With the right diet, medication, and love, Sally thrived in her foster home. Her transformation is astounding!

In just a few months, Sally completely recovered physically. Because of the horrific trauma Sally had been through, it’s hard to know what will continue to haunt her — but she seems very comfortable around humans and everyone who knows her believes she will live a full, happy life.
This is Sally now! Her transformation is nothing short of a miracle! Thanks to her tail wags and good people, Sally has nothing but a beautiful life ahead of her!
