Animal rescuers came upon a dog wandering around on the street. They immediately pulled to the shoulder and did their best to coax him over. He was very hesitant at first. Who knows what kinds of dangers lurk around. Being on the streets, fending for yourself, can be a scary experience.

The dog barks defensively but then a few minutes later he slowly approaches the car. He sniffs the rescuer as she puts her hand out. It’s almost like he is asking her to help him. He has the sweetest face– but there is so much sadness in his eyes.

The kind woman reaches into the car and grabs some treats. Now, he’s interested. He takes one right from her hand and walks off wagging his tail. As he eats his biscuit (and wags his tail some more), you can see there is a lot of traffic whizzing by. It’s not safe and the rescuer knows that.
The woman works to gain his trust. She doesn’t want to spook him and have him run into traffic. That could be deadly! The woman reaches inside her car for a leash. Then gives him the sweetest name: Mowgli

Amazingly, Mowgli allows the woman to put a leash around his neck. He’s scared but he knows she won’t hurt him. Dogs can sense if a person is good — science has proved that. The timing 0f the rescue couldn’t have been better because a brutal storm is approaching… fast!

Sweet Mowgli heads back to the rescue center. He seems scared but he also seems relieved. The volunteers know to take things slow. They don’t want him to be afraid. He’s scared to come out of the crate so they give him all the time he needs. He slowly makes his way over, sniffs his new food bowl and then comes closer to the rescuer.

Then, you see the very moment Mowgli realizes he’s finally safe. It’s very touching. Mowgli is taken to the vet where he gets some medical attention. He’s also scanned for a chip but he doesn’t have one. After the ordeal, he’s taken back to the rescue center. This has been a big day for him. He falls asleep right next to the woman who saved him. This part will give you all the feels.

The next part is my absolute favorite. Mowgli is given more biscuits– but because he was so used to being hungry, he hides them in his bed over and over again, saving them for later. He’s also protecting the treats from other animals that would steal them. No worries, Mowgli, no one is going to steal your treats ever again!

Mowgli even meets a new friend. After being neutered, he gets the cone of shame but he doesn’t even mind! There’s been so much change in Mowgli’s life but he handles it perfectly. He’s even started smiling.

The rescue group estimates that he’s around 8 years of age, but he has the spirit and energy of a puppy. He absolutely LOVES to play!
Mowgli is looking for his forever family and the rescue group, Howl of a Dog, adopts their dogs out internationally! This means Mowgli can be yours!
