War Veteran Has A Panic Attack During An Interview. Watch The Service Dog…

Erick Scott, a veteran who served in Iraq, knows first-hand what it’s like to suffer from PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder – a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or seeing a terrifying event).

PTSD is also sometimes known as shell shock or combat stress, occurs after experiencing severe trauma or a life-threatening event.

For all too many veterans, it's hard to readjust to life out of the military or getting haunted by unpleasant memories and experiences. Erick was no exception.

To help him combat his anxiety, he was paired with a special service dog, Gumbo. Gumbo's main role was to notify him when he started showing symptoms of PTSD.

Watch the video on the next page to see Gumbo's amazing reaction when Scott gets agitated on camera during an interview. This is incredibly touching to see.

  1. You can’t stop them once they start, but just listen, help them remember deep cleansing breaths and Don’t Stop or slow them down from getting to the destination they need to be at. I know this sounds strange, but panic attacks are provoking a flight or fight adrenaline response, it gets worse if we can’t get going to a place any place that can bring relief. 🙁
I found forgiveness in Christ and its helped me tremendously.

  2. I like all dogs but a Schnauzer is a very special breed that naturally has a connection to the human heart that can’t be described with words but only felt in the heart. I have had 3 Schnauzers in my life.

  3. It’s such a shame that they dint use hypnosis and/or EFT which is fast and highly effective for PTS. I don’t like the term disorder because it isn’t – it’s stress related

  4. They serve to distract and break your minds attention away from the distressing thoughts before they escalate. They help activate the parasympathetic system, along with increasing levels of oxytocin. Having animals in our lives is therapeutic in soooo many ways 🙂 They even lower our blood pressure .

  5. That is awesome. At times, yes. Help comes from a bottle of medicine.
But when you can get the same relief from a dog, trained to respond to your actions, words, emotions…that’s just incredible.

  6. Amazing. People don’t understand how deep the pain of PTSD can run and the difficulty of even admitting to having it. Huge respect to this guy for having the courage to admit to it to a stranger. So many struggle to admit it to anyone, let alone a camera, but the effect of the dog is huge….

  7. Can’t see the video, but this is amazing . Also everyone who suffers from ptsd should be able to get one of these dogs, not just military people. What about those who have been suffering since childhood?
