War Veteran Has A Panic Attack During An Interview. Watch The Service Dog…

Erick Scott, a veteran who served in Iraq, knows first-hand what it’s like to suffer from PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder – a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or seeing a terrifying event).

PTSD is also sometimes known as shell shock or combat stress, occurs after experiencing severe trauma or a life-threatening event.

For all too many veterans, it's hard to readjust to life out of the military or getting haunted by unpleasant memories and experiences. Erick was no exception.

To help him combat his anxiety, he was paired with a special service dog, Gumbo. Gumbo's main role was to notify him when he started showing symptoms of PTSD.

Watch the video on the next page to see Gumbo's amazing reaction when Scott gets agitated on camera during an interview. This is incredibly touching to see.

  1. That is amazing. I am so thankful that they can do this with these animals for the soldiers. I hope they can get more dogs for them. God knows there are more veterans out there that can use them.

  2. I can so relate to him. Not a veteran, did my time in public safety for 25 years. 9 years in fighting the demons every day. My dogs are my right hand at my left knee. Changed my life, and keep me almost functional.
    Bless them all!!!

  3. Every service man and woman who needs one of these amazing animals should be provided with one. If they need help caring for them that’s a Gov’t subsidy I can get behind.
Thank you to our amazing service men and women who have given so much to allow us our freedom!

  4. Heather Pofahl no doubt. I’m sure the dogs are helpful. We’ve got three dachshunds at home and I’ve had gnarly panic attacks throughout the past eight years. I’m just merely commenting on how the caption for this video is misleading to what is actually contained in the video… If it was a panic attack in the video, it was very mild. Dude seemed fine. But again, I’m sure he has regular panic attacks apart from the video.
