The German Shepherd Dog is a natural protector and so adaptable and intelligent that he has performed just about every job known to dog. If he had opposable thumbs, he would be unstoppable.

They are highly intelligent and will not be content to live life as a couch potato. He's a dog of action, and needs to live with an active person who will give him a job worthy of his talents.

German Shepherds love children and make great family dogs when they are given early socialization and training.

Most of us think of the German Shepherd as a black and tan dog, but they can also be sable and solid black.

Dogs with white, blue or liver-colored coats are frowned upon by breeders, so don’t fall for marketing claims that those colors are “rare” and command a higher price.

These are some of the things we probably already know about German Shepherd dogs if we live with one. However, there are a few things all German Shepherd owners must remember about these wonderful companions.

    A GSD must live with the host family. They think, and love and respect. To tie them to a tree or a doghouse is cruel. If you think a dog is to be chained to a tree, then get a plant, an artificial plant.

    Jay James we have a 4 year old who is still a nightmare ! Fabulous dog not nasty but high alert. We understand his issues more now and months of training drew blanks. Like you say only ok after long walks which we do daily. Also got him a companion and that has helped. Any tips from anyone would be great.

    So true…
    I was with my girl for her very last breath. She passed away in my arms while looking into my eyes.. I did that for her as that was she needed & deserved..
    Rip Jessie, you will never be forgotten & you will live on in me. I will always love you my little girl. Xx
