10 Things German Shepherd Owners Must Never Forget

3. German Shepherd kisses may also improve your health!

Dogs are known for a sense of smell so powerful it can detect danger and diseases in humans. Often guard dogs and companions, we consider them our best friend. German Shepherds are no exception.

But as this recent study from the University of Arizona (UA) aims to prove, dogs may also be man's best medicine.

This new study aims to show that microbes exchanged between dogs and people may have a positive probiotic effect on the human body that affects our overall health.

“We think dogs might work as probiotics to enhance the health of the bacteria that live in our guts. These bacteria, or ‘microbiota,' are increasingly recognized as playing an essential role in our mental and physical health, especially as we age,” said Dr. Charles Raison, principal investigator for the study and a UA professor of psychiatry in the College of Medicine.

  1. Had shepard when my kids were tiny. We were fishing one day on a dock. A little boy reached for their tackle box. Prince gently took the little ones hand in his mouth and said no no in doggie language. Amazing dogs very protective.

  2. I agree with most of them except the one where it says German Shepherds don’t understand speech’s, my German Shepherd had the runs a couple of weeks ago and I told her if she wanted to go out just wake me up and I’ll let you out, she woke me up at 4 in the morning and I let her out, so I like think it what I said to her.

  3. What a beautiful gentle dog.I simply adore the breed they have everything going for them. They are beautiful to look at, fun to play with, they would take a bullet for you and they don’t yap yap yap about nothing !!
