10 Things German Shepherd Owners Must Never Forget

The German Shepherd Dog is a natural protector and so adaptable and intelligent that he has performed just about every job known to dog. If he had opposable thumbs, he would be unstoppable.

They are highly intelligent and will not be content to live life as a couch potato. He's a dog of action, and needs to live with an active person who will give him a job worthy of his talents.

German Shepherds love children and make great family dogs when they are given early socialization and training.

Most of us think of the German Shepherd as a black and tan dog, but they can also be sable and solid black.

Dogs with white, blue or liver-colored coats are frowned upon by breeders, so don’t fall for marketing claims that those colors are “rare” and command a higher price.

These are some of the things we probably already know about German Shepherd dogs if we live with one. However, there are a few things all German Shepherd owners must remember about these wonderful companions.

Find out the 10 Things German Shepherd Owners Must Never Forget on the next page! The last one brought me to tears… :'(

  1. Yes they are the best. They are the most loyal , protective and loving dogs you could ever have . Ours saved my life from an intruder. He has passed over that rainbow bridge . His name was Einstein because he was so darn smart. Our GSD we have now is 13. His name is Spencer. To this day he is by my side continually. So much his nickname is Shadow ♡

  2. My personal protection detail. Extremely loyal, intelligent and beautifully stunning. She never strays far from my side n even comes to work with me, I’m a care assistant n she’s perfectly behaved every time. She’s almost 11mths old

  3. Max is our second GSD, very loving , too protective and disobeying . He lives in his own world, we don’t know if this was due to birth defect or something else but we love him to the moon and back. Most dog trainers gave up on trying to teach him how to heal and pay attention, he will only semi heal after 5-6 miles of walk . Still, the best, most loving dog .

  4. Superb dogs. The reason the light colours are not favoured is because originally the shepherd needed to be able to distinguish his fig from marauders in the snow, and so he didn’t shoot his own dog.
