As human beings, we have only abut 6 million olfactory receptors. These are the receptors responsible for helping send scent signals to our brains.
Dogs, on the other hand, can have up to 300 million olfactory receptors. This definitely helps explain just how important a sense of smell is to the average dog. While humans do have a sense of smell, it’s almost nothing compared to the sensational abilities of a dog’s nose.
