There are other reasons your dog curls up into a ball when the time comes for him to go to sleep for the night. Curling into a ball is something dogs naturally do in the wild. They usually dig holes or use leaves to craft themselves nests to use while they sleep. Curling up into a ball inside of these nests helps keep them very warm and very cozy.
Curling up into a ball is a common reaction that dogs have when they are moved to a new or strange location. To help you dog feel more at home, try giving him his own blanket to make a soothing nest.
