    Dachshunds are very poorly made in the first place. They have a lot of physical ailments after puppy-hood and interbreeding them with sturdier breeds will prolong their life. I wish my parents dachshund had the opportunity of not being pure bred. She probably would have lived longer and not broke my parents hearts when she had to be euthanized at 5 years old with severe & painful spine & hip issues.

    The long haired Dachshund is a cross between a spaniel and the wire haired has Terrier in it. However, they have been bred for nearly 900 years and are considered as pure bred at this point as any.

    I don’t find any of these mutts attractive. I love dachshunds for they way the look and their little dachshund personality. When I was little I had a chihuahua doxie mutt named minnie. She was free. Because she was a mutt. Now someone out there decided to change the name mutt to “hybrid” and now “chiweinies” are selling for $800 a pop!
