Woman Living In Home With Decomposing Pets Gets Stiff Prison Sentence

All it took was one welfare check at the home of 20-year-old Truth Rack to discover a horrific state of affairs.

When the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Florida woman’s home and stepped inside, they were overwhelmed by a foul odor consistent with decomposing animals.

They called in for help to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society, who found many dead animals with over 100 dogs removed from the property. Sadly, many of the deceased pets succumbed from malnutrition.

Upon further investigation into the case, it was learned the call that set things off came from Richard Rack because he was unable to reach his daughter for days. Richard blames himself for the deaths because he left the animals in his daughter’s care.

Deputies and representatives from the animal welfare society noted the floors were covered in animal waste as well. The 100 animals that were removed came from Richard Peck’s business called Danny’s Doghouse.

At the time of Truth Peck’s arrest, she was charged with 17 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Seven counts were dropped and she entered a plea of no contest.

Thanks to Circuit Judge Michael Flowers, Truth Rack was sentenced to seven years in prison followed by 10 years’ probation. She is also not allowed to own animals.
