Paralyzed Pit Bull Loses It When Her Dad Comes Home After 6-Month Deployment

A family isn’t just made up of humans, is it? Our pets are a BIG part of what makes us whole. For the Swansons, their dogs knew that their dad would come home eventually. That his six-month deployment would have to end at some point. But time drags on, especially time away from the ones we love most.

The Swansons foster special needs dogs. When they met Emma, a dog that suffers from Polyradiculitis, they knew that she belonged with them forever. The condition is caused by exposure to toxoplasmosis in utero; a very serious infection that often causes death in dogs soon after birth. But Emma is a fighter! She is paralyzed in her hind legs but doesn’t let that stop her!

Emma and her dad, a U.S. Air Force Officer, developed a very strong bond. When he was deployed for six months, Emma and her doggy siblings waited daily for his return. When he finally came home, their mom, Melissa Swanson, filmed the moment he walked through the door.

This is no ordinary reunion story, as Emma is no ordinary dog. Her reaction to seeing her dad come through the door is incredibly heartwarming and inspiring.

Emma’s mom writes: “When I come in the door, she normally sits at the end of the hallway and waits for me to pick her up. This time, when her daddy came in, she went to him!”

You’ll have to see it for yourself, it’s an emotional reunion fur sure!
