Pup Was Living In The Woods For A Year When Someone Found Her Injured By A Coyote Trap

Abandoned in a forest in South Carolina, Hermione was in need of immediate rescue when she was found with a coyote trap on her paw. Thankfully, the animal rescue team Hope for Paws was there to help after making a cross-country trip to rescue her.

Hermione was living on her own in the forest for about a year when she accidentally stepped on a rusty coyote trap. Local animal rescuers spent five days trying to catch her to no avail. Thank goodness Hope for Paws stepped in and saved her precious life.

When they arrived, Hermione was very hungry. Shy and scared, she slowly warmed up enough to take food but she was still very hesitant about being captured. Using a net technique, a group of volunteers was able to surround her and get her to safety. And soon, Hermione was on her way to getting the treatment she needed.

It took six days to get the trap off her foot. After that, she had to endure a cross-country road trip to get her to a surgeon who was able to treat her injury. Dr. Robert Olds was able to save most of her paw, but he also discovered that she was suffering from heartworm.

It took several months for her to completely recover. In the meantime, she was able to foster some kittens! I’m so glad Hermione was saved and I am sure she will have no problem finding a forever family.
