Nobody Wanted This ‘Sad Looking Cat’ So He Was Scheduled to be Euthanized, Then They Showed Up

A shelter cat with the saddest face had given up hope, sitting quietly in the cage until a couple came to rescue him. What a difference adoption can make in just an hour!

Meet BenBen the cat!

One hour is all it took to transform this sad cat into a happy ball of orange fur. Introducing Benben. He had been called the saddest cat on the internet during the days he spent at the shelter.

Shelter workers think Benben had been attacked by another animal, he had some deep cuts, a cauliflower ear, and his spine was crushed.

Of course, he isn’t really frowning, it is just some extra skin on his face that makes him look that way.

Benben was scheduled to be put to sleep. Workers at the shelter said it was as if Benben knew his fate.

He stopped eating and drinking. The day before Benben was scheduled to be put down a woman who works with an ER vet took him home!

She said that as soon as they got home, Benben was transformed. Within just 60 minutes he was smiling, purring, and wanted to cuddle.

Benben finally felt safe, he felt loved and was finally happy.

So much for being the saddest cat on the internet! No one expected Benben ever to be able to walk again – but he proved everyone wrong!

Benben is able to walk, run, and jump (small distances!).

Many months later, some of Benben’s favorite activities are sleeping, playing, and trying to sample his human’s food!

Love is a powerful thing! Animals are so resilient!

  1. Wish people could understand more that animals in shelters are never shown at their best. Cheerful and friendly may mean over anxious, withdrawn may be cautious and a bit confused and let’s face it cats could be anything. Sad one minuite happy the next or none of the above very difficult to read at the best of times. Most decent rescues will either have a note by the cage or tell you as much as they know about each animal. As for the rest do as most of us do and go with a bit of knowledge and a lot of heart
