Shelter Cat Is Obsessed With Riding Around On People’s Shoulders

After losing their home when their family could no longer keep them, two bonded brothers named Tucker and Buddy are now waiting together at SPCA of Wake County for a new family to fall in love with them.

The energetic 1-year-old cats have quickly become favorites among shelter staff — especially Tucker, whose unusual obsession keeps everyone laughing.

Tucker absolutely loves sitting on people’s shoulders.

And according to staff members, this isn’t an occasional thing. If Tucker sees an available shoulder nearby, he’s going for it.

“It honestly sounds exaggerated until you meet him,” Samantha Ranlet of the shelter told The Dodo. “People walk into the room and suddenly Tucker is already perched on their shoulder before they even realize what happened.”

His former owner warned staff about the hilarious habit ahead of time.

“They told us, ‘You always have to be prepared for Tucker to jump onto your shoulder,’” Ranlet explained. “It can happen from the floor, from furniture — basically anywhere.”

No one knows exactly why Tucker loves shoulders so much, but it seems to combine two of his favorite things: being close to people and being up high where he can observe everything around him.

“He’s basically a sneaky little shoulder ninja,” Ranlet joked.

While Buddy is slightly less interested in climbing onto humans, he matches his brother’s nonstop energy in every other way. Together, the pair brings constant entertainment, chaos, and fun wherever they go.

According to the shelter, the brothers would thrive with a family that appreciates lively, playful pets and doesn’t mind a little daily madness.

“These are definitely not calm, quiet cats,” Ranlet said. “But they’re incredibly funny and full of personality. If someone wants a home that’s more exciting and full of laughter, these two are perfect.”

Tucker and Buddy love toys, cat TV, hiding spots, and exploring every corner they can reach. They also do well around other animals and spend much of their time playing together.

Most importantly, the bonded brothers need a family willing to keep them together forever.

And future adopters should know one thing upfront: if you bring Tucker home, your shoulders officially belong to him now.
