Seth Rogen pays tribute to his beloved dog Zelda after her death: “We belonged to each other”

No matter who you are, a dog’s love can mean more than anything. Even the biggest movie stars in the world rely on the unconditional love of their beloved pets.

Now, Seth Rogen is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his beloved dog, Zelda, who recently died after nearly 14 years together.

The comedy star, known for his roles in films like Knocked UpPineapple Express and Superbad, shared a tribute to Zelda on Instagram, describing her as “truly the most special, magical creature.”

“She taught us about love, resilience, strength and kindness,” Rogen wrote. “We loved her more than words can describe.”

“Everyone who met her saw what a unique little puppy she was. She’d stare in to your soul with her gigantic buggy eyes. She was so judgmental, that when she loved you, you really knew you earned it, and it made you feel like you had won.”

Rogen wrote that when Zelda was a pup, she was “so shy” that no one wanted to adopt her… but after being adopted by the movie star, Zelda came out of her shell: Rogen wrote that the dog travelled to multiple countries, appeared on “two magazine covers,” and appeared in multiple movies.

The dog can be seen in at least two of Rogen’s comedy films, The Interview and This is the End.

Zelda became a celebrity in her own right, so popular with fans that she inspired “countless works” of fan art, Rogen wrote.

The Instagram post ends with a long list of “things that were so special” about Zelda, from “her big eyeballs and her intense eye contact” to “the way the fur on her legs looks like culottes from the back.”

Rogen wrote that Zelda died on May 4th. She was almost 14 years old.

Many fans expressed their condolences on social media, and many of Rogen’s celebrity pals shared their tributes.

“Zelda was the best,” Mindy Kaling wrote. “So sorry to hear this.”

“Oh no you guys. I’m so sorry,” wrote Rogen’s Freaks and Geeks co-star Busy Philipps.

Actor Ike Barinholtz called Zelda “one of the all time greats.”

Rest in peace, Zelda — it’s clear you were loved by so many, especially your loving owner Seth Rogen.

Please share this story in memory of this beautiful dog 💔
