When a precious dog becomes a senior, he has earned the right to a relaxing, happy life. But that wasn’t the case with Felix. This old dog has survived a lifetime of cruelty. Thankfully a kind person intervened and saved his life.

Felix had survived a horrible attack. He was strangled and stabbed with a knife. He was then beaten badly. His ears suffered from infection and he had a concussion. He also had a broken tailbone and all four legs were fractured. What type of monster could do this to an innocent dog?

The rescuers weren’t as concerned with catching the culprit as they were about saving Felix. They spent every bit of energy and resources on Felix because, in that part of the world, animal cruelty isn’t against the law. We are hoping, of course, that will change.

Felix was transported to the medical center. The veterinarian addressed his injuries and then drew blood. He tested positive for heartworm. He also was severely anemic from malnutrition and blood loss. His white blood cell count was through the roof from infection.

His test results proved what the rescuers suspected– he had lived through a lifetime of neglect, cruelty, and abuse. But now, this dog’s life was going to change. That horrible existence was now forever in the past.

As he rescuer says: Felix rose from the ashes. He was never loved before but now he has all the love he’s ever wanted.
Felix is still being treated for heartworm and his injuries still need time to heal, but he is truly living his best life. He is brave and strong and is inspiring others around him every single day. One of his rescuers has decided to adopt him. He now has a forever home where he will live out his days safe, cared for and loved.
