Nellie, a three-year-old Dalmatian, went into labor, and the puppies “just kept on coming” according to owner Louise Clement.
The final litter count was 10 males and eight females for a total of 18 pups, nearly double the average size for a first time mom.
“I thought she’d stopped after number 15, because it looked like she had laid down to go to sleep. But then along came another one, and two more after that,” said Louise.
The litter was one short of the record (19) tied by Velma the Dalmatian and still a far cry from 101 Dalmatians, but close enough! 😉
Nellie had a great natural labor and is doing well.
