Mom’s filming the baby taking a nap when a nose pokes through beside him

I recently came across a story of a toddler of 3 years who was left alone with the family dog and got attacked by it. It somehow raised lots of questions in my mind as to whether these animals are really safe to be around young children. I decided to share my thoughts on some of my social media sites and see how other people feel about kids being raised with dogs.

Most of my friends believe that stories like the above are exceptions and that having a dog while raising your child can only be beneficial. They believe that dogs are kind-hearted creatures that teach children compassion, patience, and responsibility.

However, I believe that in order for them -the dogs and the kids- to be friends, the kids should be first taught the proper way to interact with their pets because they are living creatures that need their own space and have other needs as well.

If you want your dog to become your kid’s friend then teach your child not to bother the dog while it’s eating or resting, don’t grab its ears or tail and avoid doing other things that may cause the dog to become aggressive.

Once you teach your child proper behavior around animals, you can expect him or her to find in the dog a friend for life.

Here is a compilation of kids bonding with their dogs and it’s the most adorable video you’ll watch all day.
