How many times have you been driving down a road when an animal darted right in front of you?
In most cases, we’re all paying enough attention to slam on our breaks when that happens. But once it is over, you drive away right?
As long as the animal got to safety, you don’t really need to stick around. And if something tragic happened, not everyone is able to sit around after the fact.
When it happened to one man, he immediately pulled over when he realized there was more going on.
When Andrei Matei was driving home from visiting his girlfriend, a tiny animal darted in front of his car.
He had to hit the breaks to avoid hitting the puppy and when he did, he realized that the puppy wasn’t alone. There were more puppies on the side of the road!
Rather than drive away (don’t lie, most people would), Andrei pulled over right away and knew he had to act fast to get the puppies to safety.
When speaking to The Dodo, Andrei said:
“I immediately braked and stopped the car, and started going backwards. I went out of the car and there were three puppies, jumping on my leg and very happy. They did not have any idea that they were one inch close to death.”
He had no idea what to do with the puppies at first. Once he realized how friendly they were, he decided to put them on passenger’s seat of his car. He made sure they were safely tucked in and brought them on his three-hour drive home.
When he posted a picture of the puppies on Facebook, a friend of his suggested that Andrei contact his neighbor.
Andrei reached out to Aura Vasile, who is an experienced rescuer. Aura shared photos of the puppies, that Andrei and she took, on Facebook looking for help to rehome them.
Strange call this evening.. someone thought i have a rescue charity ( well I Don’t!!) but after hearing that he found on the highway 3 little puppies and he stopped to take them but doesn’t have where to keep them I just couldnt say No and we met at the vet clinic. 2 girls ( black) and one boy ( cream), aprox 2 months old, very skinny, but one of the girls weights only 850 grams.
Despite being abandoned, either by a human or their mother, the puppies were in pretty good health. They just had fleas and worms, which were easy to treat.
Andrei Matei told The Dodo:
“I left after with her promise that all the pups will be fine and that she will take care finding them new homes. I checked after one week on her Facebook page and all the pups were with their new families, safe and happy.”
The little puppies were in good hands with Aura. Her post gained a lot of attention and she was able to get funds to help take care of the puppies.
People felt bad for the puppies after they’d been left and wanted to help any way they could.
Since they didn’t need much in terms of medication from the vet’s office, all it took was some food to support the puppies.
