Deaf Dog Longing For His Dad Waits At Front Door During Entire Deployment

Our daily lives are filled with routine. Some mundane activities mean more than others.

Especially coming home after a long, stressful day of work and being greeted by our favorite furry little creatures. Nothing says “Welcome Home!” like a wagging tail and some sloppy kisses.

But this story isn’t about the mundane. It’s about a special homecoming that this dog didn’t wait 8 hours for.

His favorite human, his dad, is in the Oregon National Guard. Training is tough and our guard men and women work tirelessly to prepare for almost anything.

This sweet, deaf Pit Bull, named Cotton, knows that Dad has to go away but that he always comes home. However, waiting for Dad can be torturous.

Cotton can’t hear a car pull up so he watches, persistently, at the front door, day in and day out, to see his best friend come back to him.

His adorable face peeks around the curtain, right in the corner of the window of the door. He’s ready to pounce as soon as he sees Dad walking up the porch stairs.

The door opens and it’s like Christmas morning! DAD IS HOME! DAD IS HOME!!! His body says it all. This is one happy dog who has so much love to give.
