Reportedly, this thief had been eyeing the Pit Bull for quite some time. The owner had rescued the Pit Bull a few weeks ago. The thief took advantage of this and kept claiming that the dog was his.
However, when the owner asked him to bring ownership proof or even a photo, the man backed off and attempted to steal the dog instead.

The police referred the case to rescue volunteer Marizanne Ferreira. After investigations, Marizanne has warned Pit Bull parents to implement extra safety measures for them.
The rise in dog-fighting rings makes Pit Bulls an attractive prospect for theft. She has asked pet-parents to micro-chip their Pit Bulls and never leave them unattended.
