When Andrea found Benji on the side of the road, he was in such bad shape that she didn’t think he’d survive much longer.
She rushed him to the vet, who agreed. In fact, the vet suggested that Benji be euthanized, but Andrea took one look at his cute face and sad eyes and knew she couldn’t give up on him.

Poor little Benji was covered in mange, which led him to lose all of his hair. His extremely emaciated body was covered in sores and his ears were crusted over due to sarcoptic mange.
Since Andrea refused to put Benji to sleep, his road to recovery began. He received antibiotic injections and baths to treat his mange.

His smell was so bad that not even a bath helped it go away. Andrea gave him baths every single week to rid him of the smell and also smothered him in virgin coconut oil to help his skin. He was also put on a proper diet to help him gain weight.

His hair started growing in and he began to look like a whole different dog. Not only was he healing on the outside, but he was healing on the inside as well. As he started to heal, he began to feel better and his personality and spirit began to show.

He was finally happy again and would wag his tail all the time. He had come such a long way from his days on the streets.
Today, Benji is completely unrecognizable. If you didn’t know he was a dog, you’d think he was a teddy bear! He looks so healthy and is such a happy pup. He enjoys walks and trips to the beach to play in the sand. He is loving his new home!
