She Was Left At A Shelter When Her Owner Died. 5 Years Later, She’s Still Waiting For A Loving Home

When Diamond was three years old, her owner and best friend sadly passed away. But as a young dog, Diamond’s life was far from over. She was an energetic, loving dog who now needed a new home.

She was brought to West Virginia shelter, and five years later, she’s still searching for that forever home. Now as a senior, her hopes of finding a home seem to be diminishing little by little as the days go on.

But that doesn’t stop Diamond from basking in happiness. The staff at the shelter absolutely love her and take her on outings with them. She loves to play and run around, and when she’s outside, you can find her rolling around in the grass.

Over the years there has been phone calls from people interested in Diamond, but most of the people inquiring about her already have a dog at home. Usually that wouldn’t be a problem, but Diamond doesn’t get along well with other dogs. She needs to be the only animal in the house. This has made it harder for her to find a forever home.

In the meantime, Diamond is brought to training once a week so she can get used to being around other dogs. It might be a long road, but the staff has hope that Diamond can one day tolerate living with other dogs.

Spending a great amount of time in a shelter can be very stressful for animals and make them depressed. But despite all of the years that Diamond has been at one, she still sports a smile on her face every day.

Now she’s just waiting for a family to share it with. If you’re interesting in adopting Diamond, contact the West Virginia shelter at 304-725-0589, or email them at adoptions@awsjc.com.
