Hope For Paws received a call regarding an abandoned dog who had been roaming a neighborhood for a week. Animal Control had tried to catch her, but were unsuccessful.
Rescuers JoAnn Wiltz and Jacqueline Artecona quickly arrived at the scene to rescue this poor pup.

When they first spotted her, she tried to hide under a car before running away. She was very afraid of people, so the women knew that chasing her was not going to work.
The next best option was to set a trap. After leaving some food in the trap, the dog went right to it and walked inside.

Rescuers brought her to their shelter and decided to name her Acacia.
After further examination, they discovered that she had a perianal mass under her tail as well as a mass on her eyelid.
The mass under her tail caused her pain and stomach problems, so vets scheduled a surgery to remove it, along with the one on her eyelid.

But first, a bath! Acacia enjoyed what was probably her first soothing bath ever. Then, once she was feeling better, she underwent surgery to remove the masses.
Her surgery was successful and Acacia was already so much happier! From there, she went to stay with It’s the Pits Dog Rescue, where she will heal and wait for her forever home.
