20 Things All Schnauzer Owners Must Never Forget

Dogs are family, and Schnauzers are no exception.

These adorable dogs with close wiry coats and heavy whiskers around the muzzle were originally bred to be ratters, guard dogs and all-purpose dogs on German farms.

Their versatility, protective nature, and love of family make them an excellent companion dog breed.

The schnauzer type consists of three breeds: the giant, standard, and miniature. With all of his innate skills and exceptional good looks, is it any wonder breeders felt one size was not enough?

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Schnauzers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Schnauzer owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Schnauzer owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. I just found out my best friend 0f 13 years has an aggressive form of skin cancer. I have nursed him through Cushing disease, 3 surgeries for bladder stones, mucocele and now this. It breaks my heart knowing we are coming to the end of his beautiful life. He has given my husband and I so much love and so much trust with every day of his short life. Every day when I got up he would bring me to an immediate smile and I knew from then on the day would be great. Because of my husband’s job, Klaus and I developed a strong bond and I will miss that every day of the remainder of my life.
Schnauzers are so smart, so loving and so funny. For 13 years Klaus had a favorite stuffed animal and he would look for it when we were getting ready to go to bed. He loved that toy so much that I purchased 5 identical stuffed puppies, now we are in the last one that I bought for him. Every night, when his dad was away, Klaus would bring purple puppy to the bed room and lay it on a an item of clothing that my husband last wore and left on the floor for him. Amazingly he would do this night After night until his daddy returned.
I don’t know if his daddy will make it home before Klaus has to leave us, but if it means pain for our little guy just to hold on until his dad returns, Klaus comes first, I refuse to allow him to suffer. He doesn’t owe us anything and we owe him everything.
I am convinced that a dog could teach anyone how to love if you let them, but you must let them. No wonder dogs are considered man’s best friend, because they are.

  2. I certainly did cry at #20, because I stayed with my sweet girl when she end her time on earth and she knew I was there, It’s the only way I would let her go

  3. I lost my beloved Max two years ago. I still grieve for him. He is with me always. He taught me so much. I rescued my little Quincy and am doing everything that Max taught me. Until we meet again my Max. I love you and miss you.

  4. One year ago tomorrow, I had to say goodbye to my little man, Glyph. I miss him so much. I had him with me for 14 years, that was not long enough. Eternity would not have been long enough. Saying goodbye to him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I hope I did right by him, he deserved the best. He was the best living creature, I’ve ever known. Miss you Pupba!

  6. These fur babies steal your heart like no other. When they go to the doggy spa for a few hours, the house is way too quiet, they might steal your bed because they need to touch you while they sleep. Some love the love the dirt & mud, while others – god forbid- don’t like getting their little paws wet. But they are the absolute best fur babies ever. Quick to learn, eager to love & give kisses. My life would be very boring without the 2 I have. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  7. I know the feeling, it’s been 6 years since I held my baby girl Lucy for her final journey & I still cry. I have 2 more now, and as much as I love & cherish them, they will never replace my Lucy, these babies take a piece of you with them. I do believe that we’ll meet again at the rainbow bridge. ❤️
