16. Let me get dirty once in a while.

Your world is inside, but I thrive outdoors. Sometimes I find a lot of mud or a lake that smells like all of its fishy inhabitants. I understand if you don’t want to wash all that stuff off every day, but as long as it’s safe, let me go back to my wild roots every now and then.

17. Touch me.

Nothing makes me feel more loved than when you take time out of your day to rub my ears or scratch that itchy spot on my back that I can't reach. I can't understand your words, but I definitely understand the feelings behind a hug.

18. Pay attention if I don’t seem like myself.

It might seem like I’m just being lazy or stubborn, but I might not be feeling well. I can’t get help for myself, and I need you to look out for me.

  1. We just lost our Abbi a few weeks ago. She was almost 14 yrs old. The emotions and feelings are still raw. That #20 got to me too. But I know it was a comfort for our family to be there in her last moments. She will always hold a place in all our hearts.

  2. Hello fellow Schnauzer Mums and Dads, inviting you to like my new page. Looking forward to doing some fun Schnauzer pieces so watch this space for regular competitions and Schnauzer art. Broken Into Beauty- Mosaics By Kirstin Armalis

  3. I recently went through 18 and 19, and yesterday #20..had to say goodbye to my faithful, loving companion of the last 11 years. RIP, Liebchen…see you at the Rainbow Bridge and you will be in my heart ’til then.

  4. OMG the last one made me cry too. I had to put my 15 yr old miniature schnauzer to sleep a year ago & it still hurts so bad. I miss him terribly. He was rescued from roaming the streets of Amarillo Tx 15 yrs ago & lived the rest of his life with me.

  5. My little Leisel is older and not well. the last made me cry also. All the years go by so very fast and such joy but the hardest part of being a pet parent is saying goodbye… staying by their side is the last thing you can do for your fur child to feel your love to the very end. Leaving part of your gone.
