20 Things All Chihuahua Owners Must Never Forget

Chihuahuas… comical, entertaining, and loyal little dogs, absolutely brimming with personality – often a quirky and eccentric personality unmatched by any other breed.

Other than that generalization, Chihuahuas are extremely variable. You can find individuals who are lively or placid. Bold or timid. Feisty or mellow. Confident or nervous. Stubborn or eager to please.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Chihuahuas are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Chihuahua owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Chihuahua owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. my first dogs were the Chi Chi’s and they are the best little dogs ever….Yes #20 is the saddest but true. For me I have been there for all of my dogs except for 2 (I was young and at school)……

  2. Peggy, my chi Jackson passed away this past September. He was so healthy up until July of 2015. He needed a procedure for stones. The first one was a success. Then in mid September he needed a second procedure. He didn’t recover and he died at the vet while I was at work. I’m still struggling with what happened. He was my first dog. I understand what you are going through. I totally get it. ❤️

  3. I love my little boy, Hercules, so much. He is my constant companion whether in the house, outside, and he goes in the car whenever possible. He is perfect for our family.

  4. I lost my Pippa a white chihuahua to pet suffocation 2 weeks ago today… Who would ever think a snack bag would kill my dog. My heart aches that she tragically passed and I was not there for her. Cut up all bags so you can avoid this.

  5. My nanna had one of these breeds she was 15 when she passed. When I was pregnant with my son nan had her last holiday as her and her husband was nearing there 90 years. So nanna let me look after her for a week. Conditions don’t let her on the bed. How could I resist them big bulging eyes. So yes she came to bed with me she only eats good sliced meat. Nope not your dog gran she would not eat it for me I was worried she was missing u. Guess what when my cat wasn’t looking she was eating his food.

  6. I’m dreading when my 2 senior chihuahuas pass, I so want to see them go peacefully but at the same time don’t want to let them go. They are 17 and 15 now. We also have 2 that are both 2 and they just became the parents of 7 more 6 weeks ago.

  7. This is my baby girl charley. She has been my constant companion for all her life. When my son was killed in Afghanistan in 2010 she knew I was hurting. She let me grieve and always was by my side. She will be ten in October. But has an attitude heaven sent.
