20 Things All Chihuahua Owners Must Never Forget

Chihuahuas… comical, entertaining, and loyal little dogs, absolutely brimming with personality – often a quirky and eccentric personality unmatched by any other breed.

Other than that generalization, Chihuahuas are extremely variable. You can find individuals who are lively or placid. Bold or timid. Feisty or mellow. Confident or nervous. Stubborn or eager to please.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Chihuahuas are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Chihuahua owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Chihuahua owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. My girls are very special and spoiled, I feel as though they understand every word I say. It saddens me though as I see my older girl slowing down with age. She’s 8 and having trouble jumping on the bed and on chairs lately. This reminds me that my time with her is short but she still has good health. Both my girls are so special, they’re just like people. Great friends who will always be there.

  2. #12 ate my soul to the bone 🙁
“Don’t hit me” !!!!!! Realty?! No I’m not naive, I know there are ignorant people who think it’s okay to hit an animal… But for the love of God! Hitting a chihuahua (or any animal in my opinion) is evil, purely heartless and evil!
I couldn’t ever do that to my girl 🙁
Just looking into her precious face is enough to melt my heart into a puddle. Being mad at her is never possible, even if I am when she gets in the trash and scatters it all over the place!
Hit her? Never never never! A million times NEVER!

  3. Baby is allergic to fleas. So she breaks out all over if a flea bites. The hair on her back is growing back now from her last episode of scratching. I took her to her Vet and he took care of all her pains and itches! No scratching for over a week now and she’s as happy as can be. So am I!

  4. I don’t know how to post a pic but my beautiful darling Maggie was caught by an owl 3 weeks ago today. She tried so hard to stay but 3 days later she died in my arms. She was the perfect little dog for me. She would run alongside my mobility scooter every day on our walk. She even came to church with me. I don’t think I will ever stop crying for her. She was my heart and I love her so much!!

  5. I know, we’ve always adopted older dogs to give them a good retirement home. We got Brandi in 2012. When she left us, I held her in my arms until the end. Losing her has been harder on us than any of the other dogs we’ve had and loved with all our hearts. It’s been eighteen days and we’re still crying when we come in and don’t see those big eyes, or when we go to bed and there’s no little body climbing under the blankets with us.

  6. Ida Vanschaik Hull I know what you mean. I still cry and it has been almost a year. I finally went and got another chihuahua so I am in love again. But no pup could ever fill my heart like that Little Guy, Little Bill did. Here is a pic of my new baby–Gracie
