20 Things All Chihuahua Owners Must Never Forget

Chihuahuas… comical, entertaining, and loyal little dogs, absolutely brimming with personality – often a quirky and eccentric personality unmatched by any other breed.

Other than that generalization, Chihuahuas are extremely variable. You can find individuals who are lively or placid. Bold or timid. Feisty or mellow. Confident or nervous. Stubborn or eager to please.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Chihuahuas are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Chihuahua owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Chihuahua owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  3. Joan Lockner this is a bit long, but, i feel you pain. i had 3 chi girls. the first one i had to have put down as an absess on her hip was eating down through the muscle and going to the bone. for 3 yrs we (my husband, I and the vet) did all we could try for her, vet even sent us to Philadelphia from Baltimore to the vet teaching university to see if they could figure what was going on. and bless them, when they couldnt determine what was causing it, they charged us nothing. after another year of cleaning and dressing her wound 3 times a day, the vet said that is was very painful for her as it was an absess. i then had to make that very hard decision to let her go. and do not feel you let your baby down, as i held my baby as she slipped away, and that was 12 yrs ago, and i can still see her precious face starring up at me as she took her last breath. and all i wanted to do was to scream at the vet to stop that it was a mistake. and to this day i hope she didnt feel my distress and sadness as she passed. so i dont know what way is better. but i know your feeling of guilt. my second oldest girl (she was 12 and weighed almost 1 pound) was hit by a 4×4 almost exactly a yr later. the guilt never leaves me on that. my husband and i divorced and he kept my baby as i couldnt. long story short, when he brought her to visit my daughter, he put her down, she ran to the house as a 4×4 came and hit her. to this day 11 yrs later i still feel guilty that i left and if i hadnt maybe this never would have happened. my 3rd lived a long healthy life in a new home. i wont lie and say it gets easier, as 12 yrs on i still miss my baby girls.

  4. Awww!!! Crying!! I am so very sorry that you lost your babies!! Debra Jarman- Spence-Vickers, I know our babies are with no pain. That alone makes me feel happy and sad too. I felt the same as you did putting my Ja’be down. Seeing your baby get hit broke my heart. I cannot imagine. God bless you and may our babies rest in peace and watch over us.

  5. Sharon Brown, I could not put my babies pics away. I carry his pics everyday. He is on my phone when I open it too and my background. I have his pic in my livingroom and bedroom. I understand how you feel though.
