Oh Basset Hounds… the breed that has become one of the most popular of all dog breeds in the United States (and among celebrities)…
Is it because of their devoted, gentle, tenacious, friendly, sweet-tempered, affectionate personality? or all of the above?
With his placid personality and short-statured yet noble appearance, the Basset Hound is a popular family companion, as well as a slow-paced but keen hunting dog.
Once you go basset, you never go back. At least, that’s the buzz on the internet. Basset Hounds are among the most pleasant-natured and easygoing of all breeds.
Some are dignified, but most are clownish. Almost all are reliably good-natured, sociable, and peaceful with everyone — strangers, children, and other pets, too.
But as popular as they’ve become, you might be shocked to know that they are the worst dogs to live with… and there are 19 reasons for it.
Check out the 19 reasons why Basset Hounds are the worst dogs to live with on the next page:

Never ever thought I would want a Bassett until I got one for my
wife. This little guy gave us 16 years of pure love and affection that I have NEVER had with any other breed. I can’t wait to get another one.

ALL dogs are wonderful but maybe the Bassets are particularly stubborn…or mine just does what he wants! And now that he’s an old fella he gets to be grumpy too! But we still love him…! He’s Mylene’s truest devotion (been diabetic for almost 2 years and his glucose tests better than hers!)

They may have their troubles, shed hair all the time. smelly feet, runny eyes, ear trouble. I fought that all the time. We had bassets for over 20 years two lived in the house. Our 17 yr old Sophia passed in Jan of this year. They are the most loving, funny happy little dogs ever. They are there when you need someone to cry to. My Sophia was there when I was taking care of my mother with cancer. I come home to her she would meet me barking and wagging her tail and just love me and take the pain away. We no longer have any. We have a farm dog Jake he is about 11 . No replacement we live with the memories of our children (dogs) and are happy. They are the best dogs every
