Don’t let the sometimes worried look on a pug’s face fool you. The Pug is a happy breed. Just be aware that these dogs require attention from their owner – a lot of attention.
Whether you’re thinking of adding a Pug as a new member to your family or already live with a Pug, you should already know that pugs are known to be true companion dogs.
They can be quiet and docile, but also vivacious and teasing, depending on their owner's mood.
Although strong willed and opinionated, they are rarely aggressive. They are most suitable to families and children as they are quite tolerant with children and sturdy enough to romp and play with them.
Add to the fact that they are excellent watch dogs, always alert, but not yappy, and you've got yourself a perfect companion dog.
If you are considering to own a pug, or you’ve just become a new pug owner, there are some realities you do need to fully accept.
Check out the twelve realities new pug owners must accept on the next page! …and if you already are a pug owner, see if you can relate!

Our pug is like Velcro She is never more than 6 feet away from me. Stands between my legs while I’m cooking. Leans against the bathroom door while I’m In there and i never sit or sleep alone. Don’t get a pug if you need space

Ummmmm, watch dog? Nope. My Pug is just pure love; never barked other then in her sleep. She sleeps through fireworks, and doorbells. And yes, her ears are fine. Mona Lisa is just a really chill dog.

All so true, yes our girl barks if she hears our gates opening, but if she wants to go out to bark at the garbage truck you do have to go out with her

The shedding has been the hardest thing to get used to. I had a poodle back years before I got a pug and I never ever found a hair from the poodle but having a pug is totally different. I have almost adapted to the shedding. It’s best to just learn how to sweep mop and dust every room every day several times a day. lol

My male pug has never barked in almost 9 years. I thought something was wrong with him but after several different vet visits they say that he is normal and that if he wanted to bark he could. They say he just doesn’t have a need to bark.

MY Pug, Billy, was a very GOOD watchdog. Maybe the boys are better at the watchdog thing than the girls. :^)

Very true. Just because a dog has a short coat doesn’t mean it won’t shed. :^)
