As a responsible dog owner, it's critical to know what you can and can't feed your dog. Is it enough to just stick with a decent doggy diet?
Nope. There's a ton of foods you probably didn't know about that can actually be really bad for your dog, including some that are perfectly healthy for humans.
There's nothing worse than having your dog suffer over a simple mistake in diet. While they're still man's best friend, they probably shouldn't eat like your best friend.

I had a full box of milk chocolate bars that my Bassett hound found. She ate about half a box and hid chocolate bars all over the house. She never got sick or even had the runs though she had gold foil in her poops for several days later. I was finding chocolate everywhere for weeks after.

Same here, Jeff. My two little hot dogs and their two departed sisters would pitch fits if I had the cheese out and didn’t share it.

I already knew about chocolate.
I can see how apple cores, yeast dough, caffeine, and bacon can be on this list.
I was a little surprised by onions, macadamia nuts, garlic, grapes, and avocados.
But milk and especially cheese?! Seriously, I feed cheese to my dogs all the time and they don’t have health problems from that!

My rottie once ate a whole head of cooked garlic she thought it was a piece of meat. We could not get near her for 2 wks because you could smell her from far away. Poor thing but she wanted to beat the other dog to it. Both dogs slept together, but those 2 weeks he did not want to sleep with her.

Funny…a raw food diet for dogs is best…seen it have huge healthy effects on them…no way can i afford such a thing but better than dog food by far if done correctly.

I used to shred the cheese over the floor and let him have the fall offs… he hunted for every piece, even taught him to watch my pointing finger if he missed finding them…lol great fun

One thing that’s missing: CORN COBS. I never knew they were dangerous until my Chihuahua and my daughter’s Pug found some fresh ones in our compost pile recently. Both dogs ate very little of them, but both began vomiting within hours. Big chunks of corn cobs. Thankfully, both are OK, but corn cobs can block their intestines, making them very sick and sometimes even causing death.

I’m so glad mydog has a sensitive stomach and can’t have wet or human food, just have to make sure he gets nothing that’s dropped on the floor or left on the plates, as my kids have forgotten how to scrape their plates
