As a responsible dog owner, it's critical to know what you can and can't feed your dog. Is it enough to just stick with a decent doggy diet?

Nope. There's a ton of foods you probably didn't know about that can actually be really bad for your dog, including some that are perfectly healthy for humans.

There's nothing worse than having your dog suffer over a simple mistake in diet. While they're still man's best friend, they probably shouldn't eat like your best friend.

  1. This isnt new news everyone is aware of the dangers of certain foods or they shouldnt be dog owners, thats just my opinion nothing more!!! Some people who are knowledgable on dig health etc would tell you that cheese is ok in moderation, so this is proof how some who deal with dog health care contradicts the words of another who deals also with dig health, its a bit like scientists, this is good for you then the next it will cause this illness and that illness

  2. Agreed. Even my vet said these lists are a load of rubbish. It takes 1oz of real expensive chocolate per lb body weight to have any effect and even that’s only on a small subset of dogs. Really. I’m fairly sure if I ate 1oz choc per lb body weight it would kill me too but I don’t rush out and publish scare lists for humans

  3. We feed ours dog food as their base diet, but they do get nibbles of things from us. Our five range in age from 6 to 12. Cocoa, a 10 year old who now lives with my sister-in-law, once ate half of a 12″ tall hollow Easter chocolate rabbit that she stole out of the kid’s bedroom. She was quite sick and unhappy for a few hours, but thankfully came out of it okay.
I think the thing on this list that I most disagree with is the dairy. Maybe it’s just all our doxies, but so many people tell of their love of cheese, and mine love a little ice cream!

  4. Left over pork chop bone almost killed my Buford…by noon tge next day he was in bad shaoe. Rushed him to the vet and Dr said he would’ve been dead within the hour had I not. Stool the color and consistency of ketchup for a few days. Needless to say that was the last people food my dogs have ever received
