The German Shepherd Dog is a natural protector and so adaptable and intelligent that he has performed just about every job known to dog. If he had opposable thumbs, he would be unstoppable.
They are highly intelligent and will not be content to live life as a couch potato. He's a dog of action, and needs to live with an active person who will give him a job worthy of his talents.
German Shepherds love children and make great family dogs when they are given early socialization and training.
Most of us think of the German Shepherd as a black and tan dog, but they can also be sable and solid black.
Dogs with white, blue or liver-colored coats are frowned upon by breeders, so don’t fall for marketing claims that those colors are “rare” and command a higher price.
These are some of the things we probably already know about German Shepherd dogs if we live with one. However, there are a few things all German Shepherd owners must remember about these wonderful companions.
Find out the 10 Things German Shepherd Owners Must Never Forget on the next page! The last one brought me to tears… :'(

Hello. I’m an English police officer. I got ran over by a drug dealer and have struggled with my physical and mental health. My gsd Skylla has been there throughout. I cannot ever thank an animal who has done so much unconditionally . God bless to every gsd owner. They are a blessing in our lives.

#11: a GSD has NO concept of personal space. His preferred seating position is on top of, not adjacent to, you. 🙂

I have had Farms so I have had overnight German Shepherds and have one now who is 12 years old. I always had three or four at a time comma but number two I’m questioning. My dogs are all great dogs I have never had a problem with any of them. They know when to be protective they have all of the children if I let you in they are fine with it if not do not come in. I have never had a problem with chewing or destructive Behavior with any of them and had them since they were puppies. I did have all the horses and I was home with them and spent a lot of time with them their whole lives but I do not agree with a lot of the things they say in this article. I will say my dogs are my dog’s I am there human. They are happy to let you pet them but they never wanted to be anyone’s best friend I was very human. As far as the kids and grandchildren went they were there to protect her and love them so much they would babysit and I never had to worry about them.

When my granddaughter was a newborn and came to visit we would put her on my bed to take her naps and my female would not separate from her. She would get on the bed with her and make sure her Paw was touching her so when she woke up she would know. They took their naps together 🙂 it was precious to us.
