10 Rarest Dog Breeds in the World

Bergamasco Shepherd

Beneath the one-of-a-kind coat is a large, muscular shepherd dog of ancient pedigree. But, since the coat is the breed's hallmark, let's take a close look.

The Bergamasco Shepherd is a breed of dog with its origins in the Italian Alps near Bergamo, where it was originally used as a herding dog.

Despite its appearance and its coat, Bergamasco Shepherd tolerate hot weather surprisingly well. But they enjoy rain and low temperatures. They're actually fine in any weather.

This breed was bred in order to help people to tend sheep so it's not accidental that a Bergamasco Shepherd looks like a pile of entangled wool.

A thick layer of wool not only helps the dog to adapt to all weather conditions but also protects them from the teeth of wolves.

The Bergamasco Shepherd is not a dog for living in a house though. They are usually bred today exclusively as herding dogs.
