10 Rarest Dog Breeds in the World

Catalburun

The Catalburun is a Turkish pointer (which means this is a hunting dog) known for its distinct double nose.

It was believed that this unusual nasal structure gave the breed an advantage in hunting because of an extra sensitivity to smells.

The Catalburun is one of only three dog breeds that possess the split nose feature (along with the Pachon Navarro and Andean Tiger-hound).

They are native to Turkey and are virtually unheard of outside of the country. The breed is known for its agility and stamina.

It has a strong hunting instincts, a keen sense of smell, and boasts high trainability despite the fact that Turkish pointers have a very distinct resemblance with other pointers.

The breed has not been recognized by the World Canine Organization. That's why there are very few breeders so the breed is considered rare.
