The Ili Pika is quite possibly the cutest animal in existence, but before long, it may no longer exist at all. That’s because this teddy bear lookalike is endangered.
He’s actually a relative of the rabbit, which explains the longer ears that leave you wondering just what kind of species you’re seeing.
When you look at his face, you can’t help but ooh and aah over its extreme level of cuteness.
They’re fluffy little critters that grow to be about 8 inches long, eating only grass. Even their name is cute, right?
The Ili Pika is native to China in a very remote region and there are less than 1,000 still around.
This cute little guy has been spotted in the mountains of Xingiang in northwestern China, where most of them call home.
There’s no conservation group or organization to protect the cuties and there’s concern that global warming is contributing to their demise.
There’s a push for a nature reserve to be established for them, but so far, it’s not happening.
Maybe if enough of you see this video and spread the word about this extremely endangered species, that will change.
