Man Asks To Adopt Senior Animals No One Wants – Here’s Who They Gave Him

Meet the coolest pack of pups that you’ve ever seen. This seasoned and wise looking crew are the pets of human Steve Greig. Greig, as you can see, has a thing for adopting senior dogs.

Currently, he lives with 10 of them.

Along with a pig named Bikini (but she thinks she’s a dog), two chickens, two ducks, two pigeons, a few cats that live in the garage, a rabbit, and a pond full of koi. He’s not insane… but he is an accountant. He just decided to adopt the least unwanted dog at the shelter after one of his dogs died. It kind of snowballed from there.

“I was just so distraught about [that death],” Greig told The Dodo. “A month or two went by and I still felt so horrible about it. I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happened. That probably wouldn’t have happened if he had not died.”

He started with one dog and it spiraled from there.

“So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua [named Eeyore] with a heart murmur and four bad knees and I brought him home and that was just the beginning of all the animals,” Greig said.

He says there’s just something special about senior dogs.

“They’re just wiser animals,”Greig said. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”

And these guys are a good looking group.

They even have quite the following on Instagram, more than 744,000 followers. But it’s not easy task looking after this gang.

“A normal day for me is getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning and making breakfast for all of them, which, you know, there’s 10 [dogs] and most of them have different diets,” says Greig.

He also has to give everyone their medications.

After that, Greig goes to work and returns at lunch to let them out and give them a nice treat. And there are definitely cliques in this house among the pack.

“I think of all of us in the house as one well-adjusted pack, but there are subgroups within the pack that have their own special relationships,” Greig said on Instagram.

Combine them all together and they make one cool crew! Be sure to follow them on Instagram here.
