UPDATE:
We are very sad to inform you that Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline’s family dog, Poochie has passed away. This is an update to the beautiful story of his rescue by Luke and Caroline.
His final days were that of pure joy and we’re so happy that he was able to spend his final days with a wonderful and loving family.

Country singer Luke Bryan usually makes headlines for his hit music, but the latest arrival to Bryan’s family is making its rounds across social media. Bryan and his wife, Caroline, saw an elderly abandoned dog and knew he had to come home with them.

On the Facebook page for Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, an update reads, “Poochie, the 18 year old who was surrendered to the pound when his family became allergic and whom we pulled was expected to be a forever hospice foster…but God had different plans.”
The senior pooch was living in a foster home due to owner surrender.

Lavonne Redferrin, Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue’s director and founder, shared with PEOPLE, “We pulled 18-year-old Poochie from a shelter after his family surrendered him due to becoming allergic. We often step in and pull seniors, sickly and injured animals who are likely to be overlooked.”
The Bryans saw Poochie online, sent in an adoption application with top references, and the rest is history.
