There is never an excuse for animal abandonment. This story hits us particularly hard since this wonderful pup was callously discarded and left to die.
Miraculously, she was found just in time! This is Freya’s story.
Freya was dumped in the woods, inside a duffle bag. She lay there afraid and unaware of what was going on around her.
Thankfully, she was found by kind humans and picked up from inside the bag. She was just a tiny baby!
Freya was missing both of her front paws. The rescuers took her to the vet immediately.

A kind woman, named Emily, held Freya to calm her down. As she held her, Freya let out this sigh of relief. It was then Emily knew that this puppy was meant to be with her… forever.
The next day, she was cleared to go home with Emily. The whole family pitched in to make their home “Freya-friendly.”
Because she’s missing her paws and is so little, she needed the floor and her surroundings to be soft to walk on.

As Freya settled in, she found a favorite spot to play. On mom’s bed! Her front leg “nubs” would develop sores so her mama got her the cutest socks to wear.

Just as puppies do, Freya grew fast! She bonded closely with Emily’s kids from the get-go. Playtime is still a favorite activity and even though Freya has special needs, she plays with all her might!
In fact, they all go to the playground together and Freya loves to climb up the slides, all on her own, and slide back down. She’s a riot!

The sweet pup is so in love with her human siblings that she will actually cry if they walk too far ahead of her. She’s glued to their side.
Freya’s success has taught her new family that “there’s no reason to be angry.” Yes, she was cruelly dumped.
Yes, her life had a rough start. But she’s where she belongs now and is thriving each and every day.

Animal cruelty happens on a daily basis. We do our best to save all the animals we can. Thankfully for Freya, she will never be mistreated again.
