Even as some states make Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) illegal, insurance companies are still allowed to deny or cancel policies based on breed of dog owned by the policy holder.
While every insurance company has their own reasons for choosing the breeds they “blacklist,” and the lists vary from company to company, most are based on the breed’s reputation for aggressive behavior such as biting or attacking humans.

#1 – Pit Bull Terriers
#2 –Staffordshire Terriers
#3 – Rottweilers
#4 – German Shepherds
#5 – Presa Canarios
