14 Dog Breeds Blacklisted by Insurance Companies

Even as some states make Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) illegal, insurance companies are still allowed to deny or cancel policies based on breed of dog owned by the policy holder.

While every insurance company has their own reasons for choosing the breeds they “blacklist,” and the lists vary from company to company, most are based on the breed’s reputation for aggressive behavior such as biting or attacking humans.

According to Pyschology Today, these are the 14 breeds that are most often blacklisted by insurance companies:
