It’s interesting that humans speak to dogs as if they can talk back in the same language. However, your dog is paying attention to you because they are waiting for the right body language. Instead of emphasizing your words, go with your own body language. You eliminate the confusion and will get better responses.

My dog puts her front legs around you and pulls you close with her paws. The closer the better..so don’t agree with not hugging!

My beagle loves her face being tickled she moves your hand until you pamper her and every morning and every time i come home i get a hug from her too she puts her paws on my shoulders n pushes down until i squeeze her tightly my princess 🙂
