Woman notices her rescue husky acting strangely — then realizes how he saved her life

It’s great to have a dog around the house — you never know when they might just save the day. Dogs have incredible instincts and can detect hidden dangers that humans might miss.

That was the case recently, as one woman says her rescue husky saved her life by getting her out of her home just in time to avert tragedy.

Samantha Griffin, from Indiana, adopted her pet Husky Luna from Speedway Animal Rescue in September. It turned out to be the best decision she’s ever made, as the dog recently saved her life.

On June 24, Samantha began suffering from a bad migraine, she told Good Morning America. And at the same time, Luna began acting strangely.

“All day long, she was bugging me to go outside. And normally she don’t do that,” Samantha recalled to GMA.

When Samantha went to lie down and try to rest off her headache, the dog wasn’t having it: Luna scratched at her door, insisting she go outside.

The owner finally agreed and went outside — then, she heard her carbon monoxide detector go off.

“I grabbed all the kids that were in the house and called maintenance, the fire department and found very very high levels of carbon monoxide,” she told WRTV.

Carbon monoxide is often called a “silent killer.” The odorless, colorless gas can cause damage or even death without people realizing it. Headaches, like the one Samantha was experiencing, are the most common symptom.

Miraculously, Luna had somehow noticed the high levels of carbon monoxide before anyone else knew something was wrong, allowing Samantha and her family to get out of the house in time. The owner says that things could’ve been disastrous if she had fallen asleep like she intended.

“If she hadn’t gotten me outside, I would fallen asleep in here like completely fallen asleep and probably wouldn’t have woke up,” Samantha told WRTV. “I’ve never had a dog do so much.”

“I’m just so overwhelmed, grateful for all of it,” she told GMA. “Because I don’t know where I’d be right now without her.”

It’s amazing how smart and caring dogs can be. Luna truly saved his owner’s life, saving her from carbon monoxide poisoning.
